Below is the explanation and procedures of the information that the credit providers check when you apply for credit. If any of the below listing is placed or displayed on your credit records, your application will certainly be rejected.

In many instances the credit provider will simply tell you that you did not meet their criteria or you are blacklisting or you are on Itc without giving you details of the listing and the credit bureau on which the listing is displayed.  If you do not insist on the details, it will be left up to you to find out what caused your application to be declined. Once you have identified the issue, you can resolve it in the prescribed manner.

How Does Credit Record Clearance Service Work?

Clearance of Default
A default listing is placed on your credit provider when you have missed payments, however in terms of section 72 of the NCA, the credit provider must give you a 20 days written notification of their intention to list you on the credit bureau before they list a default on your credit record.
Where a credit provider did not give such notification, the default can be disputed with the credit bureau and should be temporaririly removed while the bureau is investigating.
After 20 days, when the credit provider cannot supply evidence of notification, the default shall be permanently removed.

Clearance of Judgment
A judgement listing is placed by the court that granted the order. In order to clear the judgment, you need to settle the account associated with the judgment and submit the clearance confirmation letter to the credit bureau. The judgment listing shall be cleared within 7 days.

Clearance of Administration
Administration listing is placed by the court that granted the order. In order to clear the listing, you need to apply for a rescission court order at the court that granted the order. Your application must enclose confirmation of settlement letters from the credit providers. You can then submit the rescission court order to the credit bureau. The administration listing shall be cleared within 7 days.

Clearance of Debt Review
Debt review is a voluntary undertaking where a debt counsellor shall apply to court for a debt review order. The debt counsellor will then notify the credit bureau that you have applied for debt review upon which the credit bureau shall place a debt review flag on your credit records. In order to clear the debt review flag, the debt counsellor must issue a clearance certificate or you can apply to court for rescission of the debt review order.
PS: Clearance of debt review without a Clearance Certificate is complicated and you need a qualified debt review clearance expert/service provider to handle the clearance on your behalf.
